Who we are

The People’s PPE is a youth-led collective that shares high quality masks for free to all.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, many organizations face challenges in securing the PPE they need to protect themselves and their communities. The People’s PPE serves as a safety net for communities in need of PPE all around the US, including homeless shelters, community health centers, students, and mutual aid networks.

Meet our team!

the people’s ppe is made up of… people! we are a collective of young people from various colleges, high schools, and spaces who have built something so beautiful, resilient, and warm.

  • Emme (she/they)

Emme (she/they) is from Poughkeepsie, NY, and lives in New Haven, Connecticut, When not lugging huge boxes of PPE around in their tiny car, she works at a college-in-prison program, goes for bike rides, knits, & thinks about the power of community. Being a part of the People’s PPE has been such a grounding experience & they hope that this work helps connect people to the resources we all need. To Emme, the People’s PPE feels like a second family.

  • Lisbette (she/her)

Lisbette hails from the Dominican Republic and currently resides in New Haven, Connecticut. She loves that People’s PPE allows her to meet people where they are while also giving her the community, tools, and resources to see disability justice in action during the ongoing pandemic. Lisbette is studying abolitionist psychology and anti-racist education at Yale University. In her free time, you can find her trying new coffee shops around New Haven, ideating new futures over dinner with her friends, and dancing to jazz.

  • Erin (she/her)

Erin is from Brooklyn, NY and is a senior at Yale University, where she studies the history of medicine. In her free time, she loves to photograph her two cats, choreograph dances in her room, and go on long walks (while listening to an Alok Vaid-Menon podcast). She is drawn to People’s PPE because of how firmly rooted it is in community care, collective survival, and love. Her work is continually inspired by the mutual aid work that has occurred for decades within and across communities in the name of disability justice.

  • Grace (she/her)

Grace is a high school student from Ann Arbor, MI, with an interest in public health. In her free time, she loves practicing her various instruments, reading books, and playing with her cats. One aspect she loves about the People’s PPE is its dedication to accessibility and health equity. Her favorite thing about the People’s PPE is working with people who are so loving and supportive of each other, and just as passionate about pandemic justice.
